Members are also eligible for the club discount rates for subscriptions to Sky & Telescope and Astronomy magazines, as well as discounts at various businesses in the Tallahassee area.

Lending Library

We have an extensive library of over 50 astronomical titles as well as periodicals, software, slides and videos. They are only available for lending to members of TAS.

  • Telescopes - These are available for rental at a cost of 5$ per month to TAS members only. We have the following telescopes:
    • 6" f4 Cave Astrola Newtonian GEM
    • 6" fX ???? Newtonian GEM
    • 6" ???? Newtonian AltAz
    • 60mm Sears Refractor AltAz
  • Laser Collimator
  • Various Eye Pieces
StarHill, The TAS Dark Observing Site

One acre on a hill (elevation 90ft) with clear horizons far from the lights of Tallahassee. Access to StarHill is ONLY available to TAS members, and their guests. For directions on how to get there please contact our secretary. The facilities available at the site are:

  • Two bedroom house with two bathrooms, meeting and storage rooms.
  • Observatory - Currently being renovated
    • 14" Celestron SCT GEM
    • Electrically powered 10ft Ash dome
    • 7x24 access to members only!
  • Several grassy sites
  • Two outdoor power outlets
  • One Permanent outdoor pier
