- Astronomy Lectures, Shows and
Observing sessions
In support of other aspects of science education in the Big Bend
area.
- AstroTopics - A monthly talk given at the general meeting
that is of interest to the amateur astronomer. Topics
range from equipment, observing techniques, maintenance,
observing programs, astrophysics, what is happening in
astronomy, activities at other clubs and stargazes and so
on. Talks are given by members, visiting scholars and
amateurs. The length of the talk varies from one half hour
to an hour and a half. Everyone is welcome. The schedule

- Sidewalk Astronomy at
Lake Ella - Weather permitting, once every month on
the Friday closest to the first quarter moon, there are
members and telescopes at Lake
Ella. It is
free and open to everyone. We start viewing
at sunset. We also hold sessions at Lake Ella during special
astronomical events. Please check the Educational

- STARLAB - TAS, in
cooperation with MB
MOAS
- Mary Brogan Museum of Arts & Sciences, performs STARLAB
planetarium shows for visitors to the center on the dates
shown in the schedule above. The
shows are held on the first Saturday of each month and take
place at 1PM and 2PM. Seating is limited so
please arrive early.

- MACLAY GARDENS STARGAZE
-
In cooperation with Maclay
Gardens, TAS presents a stargaze
open to the general public. We usually have slide shows and
lectures as well as a tour of skies. There are star charts,
telescopes and binoculars available to the public. Bring your
jackets, blankets and lawn chairs.
