Because the center closes at 8:30PM we will start the meeting early. Be sure to make it since we will probably be treated to a show in the Challenger's new planetarium.

  • August 27, 2002 - StarHill is open! Thanks to the diligence of the Collins Center, TAS access to StarHill is back. Our old lock is on the new gate with the same combination as before. Any new members who would like to be shown how to get to the site, please make arrangements with the observing chair.

  • April 10, 2002 - StarHill is closed. Due to the denial of access by Mr. Charles Ward who owns property that must be crossed to get to the site, StarHill is no longer accessible. Mr. Ward informed Mr. Gene Kochanowsky, the TAS Observing chair, that anyone caught trespassing on his property would be arrested by the Jefferson County Sheriff's Department. He also informed Mr. Kochanowsky that he would make efforts to see to it that all adjacent property owners also denied TAS access to it's observing site.  Major Joyner of the JCSD confirmed to Mr. Kochanowsky that trespassers will be arrested. Efforts by Major Joyner to reach an accommodation between TAS and Mr. Ward have failed. TAS is considering all options to regain access to the site. Anyone who can assist us please contact TAS President, Juanita Raymond or Gene Kochanowsky
